
The” Gender Agenda” Advocacy Programme was developed by ALIVE to raise awareness and rally support for collective action on the issues that confront Women and Girls. The Media Advocacy Campaign is one way to ensure that the Government treats Women and Gender issues as a priority on their agenda.
The Media Advocacy featured a press Conference on Child Sexual Abuse with focus on incessant rape cases of girls and the development of infants. Media Houses like Silver Bird TV, Nigeria Television Authority (N.T.A), Nigeria Info, National Point Newspaper, and Treasure FM were all in attendance to capture the Press Statements.
Several Civil Society Groups and ALIVE’S Partner Organizations were in attendance at the meeting.
The Press Conference was followed by a Media Interview hosted by Rivers State Television (RSTV) on Child Sexual Abuse. ALIVE’S executive director Barr. Debbie Effiong and Rita Kigbara, a member of ALIVE’S steering committee appeared on at the MEDIA Interview highlighting the impact of Sexual Abuse on the girl child and also discussing legal options available to victims.
Media Interview at Rivers State Television (RSTV) and also Treasure FM held on the International Day of the Girl Child focussing on the theme “The Power of the Adolescent Girl: Vision for 2030”

Media Interview on the “Equal Opportunities Bill” which was thrown out at the National assembly and this action of our Lawmakers poses yet another setback for the passage of the bill.
Barr. Debbie Effiong discussed extensively on Rivers State Television authority (RSTV) the prospects of the bill and the implications of its non-passage on the Women’s Rights Discourse.
Media Interview on trafficking in Women and Children at Treasure FM. This media Programme is anchored and funded by the wife of the Governor of Rivers State; Hon Justice Suzette Nyesom-Wike.
ALIVE’S Executive Director, Barr Debbie Effiong led discussions around the theme of the U.N 2017 World Day against Trafficking in persons. Deborah emphasized that Trafficking is not only a crime against humanity a serious violation of Rights.
Media Interview was also facilitated by the Rivers State Television (RSTV) on Domestic Violence in Observance of the 16 Days Activism Campaign against Gender Violence. Deborah alongside the programmes staff of ALIVE, featured in the discussions of educating the public on the dynamics and consequences of domestic violence.
